A Certified Advanced Practice Social Worker (APSW) evaluates and intervenes in complex difficulties in psychosocial functioning. Intervention plans may include psychosocial evaluation, counseling of individuals, families, and groups; referral to community resources; advocacy; and facilitation of organizational change to meet social needs.
A Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) performs patient screening, assessment, individualized treatment planning, intervention, individual or group and family substance abuse counseling, referral, discharge planning, after care or continuing care, record keeping, consultation with other professionals regarding the patient's treatment services, recovery, and case management, and may include crisis intervention, client education, employment, and problem resolution in life skills functioning.
